The Franke E600 Maintenance Necessary Alert Explained

The Franke E600 Maintenance Necessary Alert Explained - Autesso

Franke coffee machines are known for their reliability and high performance. However, even the best machines need regular maintenance to ensure they continue running smoothly. Franke has incorporated an automatic alert system in their machines, specifically the E600 Maintenance Necessary notification, to remind users when it's time for their scheduled preventative maintenance (PM1/PM2 or PM3).

Understanding the E600 Maintenance Necessary Alert

The E600 Maintenance Necessary alert isn't just a gentle reminder; it's an essential safeguard for your machine’s performance. This alert is triggered by one of two factors, the total cup count, or the time since last maintenance - whichever comes first. Both triggers are outlined in Franke's service documentation and are designed to ensure that the machine receives maintenance at optimal intervals to ensure optimal performance, prevent costly service issues and prolong its lifespan.

Ignoring this alert can lead to more significant problems down the line, as wear and tear on internal components, as well as hygiene and safety issues, can escalate if left unaddressed. Regular preventative maintenance is key to avoiding costly repairs and downtime.

What Happens During a Scheduled Maintenance Service?

When the E600 Maintenance Necessary alert appears, it’s time to schedule a service with an approved Franke service partner like Autesso.

This scheduled preventative maintenance involves a thorough checkup of the coffee machine and fridge, including the testing and replacement of key components that are subject to wear, hygiene concerns, or safety standards. Here's a breakdown of what typically happens during this service:

Safety Inspections: The technician will also conduct a comprehensive safety check to ensure that all systems are functioning correctly. This includes inspecting for any signs of wear on electrical components, seals, and fittings that could pose safety risks if left unchecked.

Leak and Wear Detection: A detailed inspection for any leaks or other signs of wear is a vital part of the service. Detecting these issues early can save you from costly breakdowns and extended downtime.

Cleaning & Hygiene: Coffee machines are used daily and can accumulate build-up that needs to be addressed. Cleaning and replacing components that come into contact with milk, coffee, and water is essential to prevent contamination and ensure a consistently great-tasting cup of coffee.

Replacement of Key Parts: The manufacturer determines that certain parts should be swapped out during this maintenance, regardless of test results. These include safety-related parts, hygiene-critical components, and parts subject to wear and tear. Over time, these elements can degrade, leading to potential operational issues, leaks, or even health concerns if hygiene standards aren’t maintained. These parts are swapped by our technicians during the maintenance, and included in the up front quote. Prior to this, we will always check the coffee machine service history to ensure we aren't replacing parts that have recently been tested or replaced.

Resetting the Counter

Once the service is completed, the technician will reset the machine's maintenance counter. This resets the internal clock and cup counter, so the E600 alert will disappear until the next scheduled maintenance is due. By adhering to this maintenance schedule, you can ensure that your Franke coffee machine continues to operate at peak efficiency, providing consistent, high-quality coffee to your customers.

Why Scheduled Maintenance is Essential

Preventative maintenance isn't just about keeping your machine running—it's about safeguarding your investment. Regular servicing helps to prevent unexpected breakdowns, reduces the risk of safety hazards, and maintains hygiene standards, all of which contribute to the longevity and reliability of your machine.

You will also receive a 12-month warranty on all parts that have been exchanged during your preventative maintenance - so you'll have peace of mind that all major wear and tear parts will be covered.

Book Your E600 Maintenance

Don’t wait until there’s a problem to service your Franke coffee machine. Regular preventative maintenance, guided by the E600 alert system, ensures your machine operates at its best, offering safety, performance, and peace of mind. After all, a well-maintained coffee machine means happy customers and ensures that your Franke coffee machine remains a reliable asset for years to come.

Fix an E551 Grinder Left Pulse Error on Franke Coffee Machine

If you're a proud owner of a Franke coffee machine, you likely appreciate the quality and convenience it brings to your daily coffee routine. However, encountering an E551: Grinder Left Pulse error can be frustrating and disrupt your enjoyment. In this blog post, we'll delve into what this error means, its potential causes, and the importance of seeking professional help to resolve it.

Understanding the E551: Grinder Left Pulse Error

The E551 error code specifically indicates an issue with the machines left hand grinder. This error can be caused by several underlying problems that need to be addressed by a qualified Franke technician. Attempting to fix this issue on your own can lead to further damage and void any warranties you may be entitled to.

Potential Causes of the E551 Error

A Blocked Grinder:

While most roasters have machinery and processes to remove foreign objects during the roasting process,  sometimes objects such as a hard bean husk, wood or even a stone can sneak their way into your bag of beans. Hard objects like these can block the grinder and prevent it from spinning.

A Faulty Sensor:

The grinder relies on sensors to monitor its operation. A faulty sensor can send incorrect signals, causing the machine to display the E551 error. Identifying and replacing a faulty sensor requires specialized knowledge and tools.

An Issue with one of the Process Boards:

The process boards control the various functions of the coffee machine, including the grinder. An issue with one of these boards can disrupt the grinder's operation and trigger the E551 error. Diagnosing and fixing problems with process boards is a complex task best left to professionals.

How to fix an E9 Brewing Unit Timeout Error on a Franke Coffee Machine

How to fix an E9 Brewing Unit Timeout Error on a Franke Coffee Machine - Autesso

An E9 brewing unit timeout error on a Franke coffee machine indicates that the brewing unit did not complete its cycle within the expected time frame. In other words, the coffee machine has detected that the brewing piston that moves in and out of the brewing chamber is moving too slowly, or not at all.

This can be due to various reasons, including damage, mechanical blockages, sensor issues, or problems with the drive frame. Here are a few steps you can try to fix the E9 brewing unit timeout error yourself before reaching out to Autesso for support;

Power Cycle the Machine:

  1. Turn off the machine and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for about 5-10 minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on. This can sometimes reset any temporary issues.

Check for Blockages:

  1. Open the coffee machine door, turn the red brewing unit locking mechanism counter-clockwise into a horizontal position and carefully remove the brewing unit. Note, if you find resistance when trying to remove the brewing unit, call Autesso as trying to forcefully remove the brewing unit can result in damage to both the brewing unit and the drive frame.
  2. Inspect the brewing unit for any coffee grounds, debris, or obstructions that might be causing a blockage.
  3. Clean the brewing unit thoroughly with warm water and ensure all moving parts are free and not stuck.
  4. After cleaning, reinsert the brewing unit carefully (again there should be no resistance), ensuring it is correctly positioned and locked into place.
  5. Close the coffee machine door.

Next steps:

If the E9 error persists after restarting the coffee machine and cleaning the brewing unit - or if the brewing unit is stuck in place and unable to be removed - submit an enquiry or reach out to our friendly tele-servicing team for further advice.
