How to fix an E9 Brewing Unit Timeout Error on a Franke Coffee Machine - Autesso

An E9 brewing unit timeout error on a Franke coffee machine indicates that the brewing unit did not complete its cycle within the expected time frame. In other words, the coffee machine has detected that the brewing piston that moves in and out of the brewing chamber is moving too slowly, or not at all.

This can be due to various reasons, including damage, mechanical blockages, sensor issues, or problems with the drive frame. Here are a few steps you can try to fix the E9 brewing unit timeout error yourself before reaching out to Autesso for support;

Power Cycle the Machine:

  1. Turn off the machine and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for about 5-10 minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on. This can sometimes reset any temporary issues.

Check for Blockages:

  1. Open the coffee machine door, turn the red brewing unit locking mechanism counter-clockwise into a horizontal position and carefully remove the brewing unit. Note, if you find resistance when trying to remove the brewing unit, call Autesso as trying to forcefully remove the brewing unit can result in damage to both the brewing unit and the drive frame.
  2. Inspect the brewing unit for any coffee grounds, debris, or obstructions that might be causing a blockage.
  3. Clean the brewing unit thoroughly with warm water and ensure all moving parts are free and not stuck.
  4. After cleaning, reinsert the brewing unit carefully (again there should be no resistance), ensuring it is correctly positioned and locked into place.
  5. Close the coffee machine door.
